An experience of combined interferon therapy of chronic hepatitis C

The article summarizes an experience of administering standard complex interferon therapy (reaferon + ribavirin) in 35 patients aged from 18 to 55 years with chronic hepatitis C. In all patients, after the termination of the course of treatment immune deficiency enhanced and the microbicidal activity of neutrophils decreased, and also exacerbation of concomitant chronic diseases was observed. The virologic response was 46.87%. The genotypes 1b and 3a of hepatitis C virus proved to be resistant to treatment. The use of complex interferon therapy for treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C requires further studying and scientific justification.
