Perinatal endocrinology

The review summarizes modern ideas about the development and formation of the functions of the endocrine glands of the fetus and about the impact of perinatal factors on their morphogenesis and the functional state. A special attention is paid to the effect of  intrauterine  hypoxia  on  the  morphofunctional  state  of  the  thyroid  gland,  adrenals,  and  the  pancreas.  Modern  methods  of studying the anatomy and functions of the endocrine glands in the antenatal period are presented.
